Asabea & Opokua on the fourth trimester

The fourth trimester is a relatively new term used to describe the first fragile time after having a baby. In this video, midwife Asabea and doula Opokua (Curly Doula) talk about what the fourth trimester means and how we take care of ourselves and our baby during this time.

Asabea and Opokua Britton have released the book Birth, which is about the journey every woman goes through during pregnancy and beyond. Giving birth is the most natural and, at the same time, the most extraordinary thing there is. People do it every day, all over the world, but for the individual it can be a unique, existential experience.

Birth provides you with essential knowledge along with practical tips and thought exercises to ensure that both you as a birthing mother and your support persons are well prepared before, during and after birth. From hypnobirthing and mental preparation to water births and breastfeeding. By highlighting both the big and the small in childbirth, the foundation is laid for your birth to be as positive an experience as possible to carry with you into your parenthood.

In addition to the book, the Britton sisters have a podcast and many other projects together. Asabea is an influencer, midwife and mom. Opokua is a research nurse, doula and mom. You can find their book here.
