In general maternity care, the first ultrasound is offered around week 12 in conjunction with the KUB. For many expectant parents, this can be a long wait, especially if you want to see your baby's heartbeat or confirm the pregnancy early. At Femcare in Stockholm, you can therefore book a early ultrasound already from week 7+0.

At Femcare, the early ultrasound is performed at their midwife clinic Vasamamma in central Stockholm. The examination is done by midwives with specialist expertise in ultrasound, and gives you answers to some of the most common questions in early pregnancy: how far along you are, whether the heart is beating and whether there is one or more fetuses.

How an early ultrasound works:

  1. You can book an appointment that suits you on the Femcare website.
  2. You will arrive at Femcare Vasamamma, Upplandsg. 34, at your booked appointment. During the visit, the ultrasound is performed either over the abdomen or vaginally, depending on the week of pregnancy.
  3. You will receive information about the number of fetuses, the length of the pregnancy, and the heartbeat.

The examination takes approximately 20 minutes and provides an early opportunity to see and confirm the pregnancy.

An early ultrasound is paid for by you and is not included in the region's maternity care. The cost is SEK 970 for an early ultrasound, and you pay on the spot at the visit.

If you would like even more information early in your pregnancy, it is also possible to combine the ultrasound with an NIPT test, which is a blood test that can provide information about chromosomal abnormalities. You can read more about Femcare's NIPT test. here.

Early ultrasound at Femcare is a popular option for those who want an early look at their pregnancy in safe hands.
