Activities with baby: 6-12 months

Every now and then, you may notice that your baby needs new forms of entertainment, and new activities. That's why we've put together a list of things that can be fun for your baby from around 6 months onwards.

Young children are constantly developing, so the need for different activities is always changing. What was a favorite a few months ago may not be relevant today. So as your baby gets closer to 6 months, it might be time to explore new activities together. Here's the list of fun things to do together between 6-12 months of age!

Activities with baby

- Play peekaboo.

- Picking things out of and into boxes, for example using a claw box or picking toys from a basket or similar.

- Playing outside with a bucket and spade.

- Read and look at books together.

- Games where you take turns like rolling a ball between you or building with blocks. Help by putting into words what is happening, what the child is doing and what you are doing.

- Playing with things that can be opened, made noise with and moved is fun, such as unwrapping packages, picking with kitchen utensils or empty packages.

- Explore rooms by crawling around and moving around. Until the child learns to walk, many people appreciate a baby walker or a baby swing.

- Drag toys with wheels behind you.

- Pretend play with the phone.

- Prancing, for example by chasing each other crawling.

- At 10-12 months, you can let your baby sit in a safe swing. Put into words what happens when you swing.

- Play music and sing songs together.

- Keep talking and telling the child things in everyday life. Put words to things like animals and how they sound.
