Activities with baby: 2-6 months

Sometimes it can be difficult to stimulate and entertain young children. It can feel like they are never satisfied, and sometimes you simply run out of inspiration. That's why we want to give you tips on activities you can do with your baby up to 6 months of age.

In the first months of life, babies develop enormously. As a parent, it's easy to look back and wonder where the time went when you realize that your baby has gone from being an infant to suddenly sitting up on its own. As they develop rapidly, babies also need more and more stimulation. This can feel a bit overwhelming when you as a parent realize how much you need to activate your child - while at the same time not being overstimulated. So what can you do with a baby up to 6 months old?

Activities with baby 2-6 months

- Talk to the child and tell them what happens during everyday activities.

- Go for walks in nature, let the child look at and smell things in nature such as leaves and trees.

- Let the child lie on its stomach for short periods and let it reach for objects in front of it.

- Try playing peekaboo.

- Some children are interested in exploring their own reflection.

- Tell fairy tales and rhymes.

- Play with toys that make a noise or are fun to rattle, such as the ladle and whisk from the kitchen.

- Swim and splash in water.

- Keep talking and telling the child things in everyday life.

Young children need to be stimulated. Although it may feel like they need to be entertained all the time, the risk is that they will actually become overstimulated (read more HERE). Sometimes just sitting and looking at your surroundings or faces is enough - it's exciting for a new baby, to say the least.
